today at work i counseled a man and his wife on diabetes and weight loss. they did and said plenty of funny things throughout the hour, but my favorite was regarding crackers. he likes rice crackers, so she buys them. but he can't eat much salt. the most logical solution? she takes them all out of the package, washes them to get the salt off, then proceeds to re-bake them in her oven to get them dry again. and she does this on a regular basis. uh, maybe next time try the salt free version?
last night was open table at the ellis' house. it was a pretty good group- the wards, the ellis', the reeds, allie, and myself. the theme was italian, so i opted to make some little bruschettas and bring them as an appetizer.
they were a big hit! for my first time making them, i was pretty pleased. we devoured them pretty quick, and spent the evening just talking and hanging out, having pasta and cole slaw (haha) for dinner, and topping it off with a healthy scoop of java chip ice cream. yum yum yum. i'm thankful for the community i have there, that they are intentional about spending time together thoughout the week, outside of group.
in other news, today was my last day at the polyclinic! done with my outpatient rotation. and the best part is, i have next week off!! i've been looking forward to it since spring break. and it's coming at the perfect time, because i have a couple different places that i'm looking into living, and need to do a bit more research. i'll be excited to move. partly because it's an adventure. partly because i get to go through all my stuff and simplify my life. and partly because *hopefully* i'll be moving out of the basement and into somewhere with a window bigger than 3 by 2 feet. i don't think i can live in a basement any longer...it may not be sunny here very often, but when it is, i want to be able to enjoy it to the fullest! basements don't help my cause.
also on the agenda for next week: a hike! i decided that i have city fever. think cabin fever....but rather than inside vs outside, it's city vs mountains.
and, are you ready for this? it's supposed to hit 75 (!!!) this weekend!
that's all for now.
love,
tracey
