mountains.

these days i've been itching to be spontaneous and adventurous. i look at the mountains every day and have yet to actually go hike them! maybe it's cabin fever? i blame that primarily on mother nature...40's and wet isn't ideal mountain climbing weather. i miss the days of hiking in the colorado dry heat, trekking through 6 foot high weeds and stopping to sit on a log for a granola bar and apple snack. boots and jeans with two pairs of socks, t-shirt sleeves rolled up because it's 100 degrees, northface day-pack stocked with nalgenes and a good camera.

i want to plan a camping trip up here as soon as the weather improves. i'll have a narrow little window of freedom between when my internship ends (in 7 weeks!!) and when i'll be taking the exam and hopefully starting a job. i have a lot i want to pack into that chunk of time...hiking, camping, plenty of cookouts and barbeques, a week in texas, and a road trip down to california. not to mention studying the 500 page binder of notes i have for the RD exam. i was talking to my friend josh yesterday and he said that the summers here really are the best in the country. i'm ready for it to get here!
