this saturday was sunny and beautiful, and also happened to be west seattle garage sale day. i only had time to check out three, but i was thoroughly impressed with how many i saw throughout the day, just driving around town. after community group katy and i made our usual run to costco where we filled up on samples then split a piece of pizza before heading back to her house to clean, rest, and get ready for the rest of the day. allie, one of the women in our community group, had her baby shower today. i baked a cake for the party: white chocolate amaretto. teresa opened up her beautiful house to host and had the classiest decorations, and around 4, we all dug in to the impressive spread of food. we sat around the room and talked with allie and her mom and mother in law, hearing stories and getting excited for baby james. plenty of platefulls and presents later, katy, kelsey and i headed home to start getting the usual saturday night dinner ready. on the menu: homemade mac'n'cheese, full of sharp and medium cheddar, beecher's flagship white, and smoked gouda cheeses. ashley and jeff brought the salad, and after we were stuffed to the brim, we played several rounds of bananagrams. it's a great group to play with- sometimes we make up silly words and themes, other times it's a sprint to the finish- dallas is quick and always gives me a run for my money. before we knew it, it was late and time to swim home through the rain. a great end to another saturday with good friends-who-are-family!
