new year's eve.

this year i got to send off 2011 and welcome in 2012 with lots of food, friends, laughs, and games...and i wouldn't have wanted it any other way!

i spent the morning at the reed's house, just relaxing and spending time with friends from cg. we didn't meet officially, so we just kind of sat around and talked and played with baby james. after group craig and i went over to the gillebo's new smurf house (i like to call it the blue ganue, because it's the bluest house i think i've ever seen) where allie had fixed some absolutely delicious homemade chicken pot pies in cute little ramekin dishes, one for each of us. we played a few rounds of banangrams before heading back to the reed's house, making a stop at the store on the way.

the rest of the evening was full of lots of queso and homemade quacamole, pizza dip, homemade margaritas, baked potato soup with all the fixins, and plenty of games. we tried out a new game that's actually a throwback called pit. after the first round, allie, katy and i didn't really know what to think of it, but the guys were hooked, because it's a speedy game that involves lots of yelling. after the ladies found our voices we all decided it was a little treasure of a game that belongs much better on our table than at the antique store that it came from, though you have to be in the right mood to play. around 9pm we decided to take a little break from the gaming and watched a couple of episodes of fear factor...eating live scorpions?? not for me. i'll take ice cream instead. and when midnight finally rolled around, we rang in the new year by watching fireworks from the living room windows.

i'm so thankful for the community i have here in seattle, for people to do everyday life with, to just enjoy their company and have fun and be silly. to be able to sit in a room together and have an intentional conversation, a couple hours later all be reading different books or doing different things, and then after that, all hanging out and being silly again. it's a joy to live life with these friends of mine :)

pizza dip- quickly becoming a classic.
