this morning was roomie breakfast at 6am, and we were all quite a bit more chipper than usual because there was a 4 inch thick blanket of snow on the ground that wasn't there last night. (it's not often that i gasp when i open the door.) as usual, it was encouraging to get a snapshot glimpse into each of our lives, something that certainly doesn't happen without the intentionality to make it so, because there are days when i don't see some of my roommates at all! which makes me doubly thankful that we all get up at 6am on wednesdays to eat together.
today, since we're snowed in and all, we relaxed a little more and talked a little longer. more than anything, i think i appreciate the fact that we constantly have the opportunity to remind each other that we serve a sovereign God, and we cannot be outside of his will. that we are filled with the Holy Spirit, and that He is good to reveal the Father's will to us when we are humbly seeking it. that we are loved in bigger ways than we can perceive, and that there is so much freedom in the fact that we serve a God with a bigger purpose than our happiness.
"for what great nation is there that has a god so near to them as the Lord our God is to us, whenever we call upon him?" deut. 4:7
"with him are strength and sound wisdom; the deceived and the deceiver are his." job 12:16
"for the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and his ears are open to their prayer." 1 peter 3:12
"if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given to him." james 1:5
not only did Jesus come to bear the consequence for our sins and give us eternal life in the future, but also to enable us to live in freedom now, empowered by the Holy Spirit that gives us the ability and the desire to walk out the life that we are called to.
time to go throw some snowballs :)
love,
tracey
