Travel.

We’ve been little travelers lately! Two weekends ago we had the opportunity to go on our first little married couple weekend getaway and drove 1.5 hours southwest to Home, Washington. A family friend of Craig’s has a little house there, and they let us rent it out for the weekend. It was the perfect little escape, not too far away, but far enough that we definitely felt away from Seattle. The house was a cute little two story home, with a living room centered around the fireplace and a huge covered front porch, perfect for sitting and looking at the view of the water. We did plenty of that, along with a bike ride and a few walks to get out and about. One day we even drove 2 hours to Westport so Craig could surf, and while the surf wasn’t awesome (from what I hear, I wasn’t crazy enough to get in!), it was a fun day trip that included some of the best homemade bread from a mom and pop diner on the way.

The next two weeks flew by, in a combination of playing catch-up at work, lots of evening meetings and events, and Craig getting over the flu. Then, before we knew it, we were headed off to San Diego.

That was my third visit to San Diego, the first being on a family spring break trip in high school (where the most prominent memory I have is seasick), and the second being for the Pine Cove Gathering conference in 2010. I pretty much remember nothing about the place though, because it was all new to me. (Granted, it IS a big city.)

Craig’s brother Robbie and his wife Anna flew us down as a wedding gift. Originally it was going to be just the four of us, Craig’s other brother Scott (+ his girlfriend Amanda), and Craig's mom and dad. But before we knew it, it was a full-fledged family reunion! I got to meet the rest of the family, and spent a good chunk of the weekend with one of 5 little kids in my arms. It was great to get to know everyone more than just the hello-it’s-nice-to-meet-you at the wedding.

Rob and Anna live within running distance of the water, so I definitely took advantage and went on a morning jog or walk every day. I wanted to soak up as much sunshine as I possibly could! It was so nice there, and I am completely spoiled by the sunshine, as I sit here back in dark and dreary Seattle!

Missing the sun, but glad to be back to some routine!!
