this weekend felt like summertime. it's only april! i'm pretty sure we didn't get weather like this until july last year. i certainly took advantage of it: on saturday after community group craig and i met up with the reeds and we all went on a little sunny adventure at the skate park.
i've never been to a skate park...something about private school fort worth suburban culture. crossing new things off my list!
katy, ransom and i picked a spot in the grass to soak up some sunshine as we watched the guys ride their boards, looking like twins. craig taught me how to ride (i'll post a picture sometime), by which i mean i can now successfully stand up on a skateboard, maintain my balance, and steer (for the most part). all on flat ground of course! i left the ramps and bowls to them. after they got tired and we got hot (since when is 70 degrees hot??) we headed back to the reeds house for dinner. homemade burgers on homemade buns with all the fixins.
it's true, when the sun comes out in seattle, everyone drops everything to enjoy it. after church on sunday i headed out to mars hill bellevue to join craig for the staff barbeque...outside in the sun (surprised?). up here, barbeque=burgers. i still get tricked. deep in my heart, "barbeque" will always mean meat smothered in spicy sweet sauce and cooked on the grill for large amounts of time. it was a great afternoon, topped off by coming home to find all three of my roommates on a blanket in our backyard, eating pineapple and sipping wine spritzers. i promptly joined them, until the time of day necessitated actual productivity, such as cooking dinner and doing laundry.
such a sweet weekend with people who are dear to me!
until next time,
tracey
